The ratings on Poland are supported by Standard&Poor's Ratings Services' view of its competitive and increasingly diversified economy, comparatively strong GDP per capita growth of around 3.5% in the medium term, and capable political institutions. The ratings are constrained by our view of Poland's relatively high and rising levels of government debt, comparatively low per capita GDP, and the still-large role of the public sector in the economy. The Polish economy also experiences intermittently high current account deficits, plus sizable errors and omissions outflows. The Polish economy continued to expand in 2009, in contrast to all other EU members. It was supported by still-positive private and government consumption and a positive contribution to GDP growth from net exports.
