St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) has mandated Plenary Health Hamilton L.P. (PHH or ProjectCo) to design, build, finance, maintain, and operate a new mental health and addiction inpatient hospital; and demolish the existing hospital. The project's 36-month construction finished in December 2013, and subsequently its 30-year operating period began. PCL Constructors Canada Inc. undertook the hospital's construction, along with the demolition of the old hospital, under a fixed price contract. The hospital consists of 305 mental health and addiction inpatient beds, mental health and medical outpatient clinics, clinical support, administrative and facility support functions, and education and research space in Hamilton, Ont.
