Abstract:

Genworth Financial Inc. announced its strategic review update on its recent first-quarter 2015 earnings call. The update included the potential sale of its core U.S. life and annuity operations. We have placed all of our ratings on Genworth Financial and its U.S. operating units on CreditWatch with developing implications. On April 30, 2015, Standard&Poor's Ratings Services placed its 'BBB-' financial strength ratings on Genworth Life Insurance Co., Genworth Life&Annuity Insurance Co., and Genworth Life Insurance Co. of New York on CreditWatch with developing implications. It also placed its 'BB-' ratings on Genworth Mortgage Insurance Corp. and Genworth Residential Mortgage Insurance Corp. NC (collectively GMICO), and 'BB-' ratings on Genworth Financial Inc. on CreditWatch with developing implications.
