Standard&Poor's Ratings Services assigned its 'SP-1+' rating to the University of Pittsburgh (UP), Penn.'s $100 million series 2015 Pitt asset notes. At the same time, Standard&Poor's affirmed its 'AA+', 'AA+/A-1+', and 'SP-1+' ratings on UP's existing debt. The outlook, where applicable, is stable. The 'SP-1+' rating is based on UP's history of solid market access and overall credit quality, indicated by the university's historical bond issuances and strong underlying rating. The 'AA+' rating reflects our view that as a comprehensive research-based university, UP enjoys strong demand and enrollment measures, which have continually improved during the past decade, while having good revenue diversity, strong financial operating performance, and solid financial resource ratios for the rating category.
