NEW YORK (Standard&Poor's) Oct. 23, 2001-- Standard&Poor's today lowered its ratings on selected enhanced equipment trust certificates (EETCs) of 10 U.S. airlines and affirmed various other ratings (see list below). Some ratings remain on CreditWatch with negative implications, due to the ongoing review of the associated airline. The rating actions follow a review of all rated EETCs, based on current and expected future asset protection. Issues that were downgraded tended to be those with less desirable aircraft (e.g., MD80 series) whose values are not expected to recover fully from the current airline industry downturn and EETCs issued in the mid- to late-1990s whose collateral protection had deteriorated materially over time due to aircraft value erosion (e.g.,
