NEW YORK (Standard&Poor's) Sept. 25, 2001-- Standard&Poor's today assigned preliminary ratings to American Airlines Inc.'s various classes of pass-through certificates series 2001-2 (see list below). The ratings are placed on CreditWatch with negative implications. Preliminary ratings had been assigned Sept. 10, but the transaction was delayed following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11 in the United States and terms of the certificates have since been revised. Final ratings will be assigned upon completion of the review of legal documentation.
