NEW YORK (Standard&Poor's) March 18, 2011--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services raised its rating on Saranac Lake Central School District, N.Y.'s general obligation (GO) debt one notch to 'A+' from 'A' based on its opinion of the district's consistently good financial position. The outlook is stable. Additional credit factors include Standard&Poor's view of the district's: Substantial property tax base with state forest land and a number of vacation properties; Limited local economic base centered on tourism and government; and Low debt levels, coupled with low carrying charges and rapid debt amortization.
