The Danish economy is wealthy, competitive, and diversified. Denmark benefits from high institutional effectiveness, mature political and institutional frameworks that promote fiscal discipline, and a modest government debt burden. We are therefore affirming our 'AAA/A-1+' ratings on Denmark. The stable outlook reflects the depth of Denmark's economic, fiscal, external, and monetary buffers. On Sept. 16, 2016, S&P Global Ratings affirmed its 'AAA' long-term and 'A-1+' short-term foreign and local currency sovereign credit ratings on the Kingdom of Denmark. The outlook is stable.
