NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's CreditWire) Nov. 22, 2000--Standard & Poor's today raised its long-term ratings for Home Depot Inc., as listed below. The short-term ratings for the company were affirmed (see list). The outlook is stable. The upgrade reflects Home Depot's continued strong operating performance and Standard & Poor's view that the company will maintain a conservative financial policy as it continues its growth strategy. Although the company's growth may decline somewhat in 2000 and 2001 due to a slowing economy and decreasing lumber prices, Standard & Poor's believes that longer-term growth prospects and favorable demographics for the home improvement industry should allow Home Depot to continue to leverage its leading market position.
