NY -- Standard&Poor's CreditWire 6/8/98 -- Standard&Poor's today lowered its ratings on Boeing Co., Boeing Capital Corp., and McDonnell Douglas Corp. (see list below). All ratings are removed from CreditWatch, where they were placed with negative implications on April 9, 1998. The outlook on Boeing Co. and McDonnell Douglas Corp. is negative. The outlook on Boeing Capital Corp. is developing. The downgrade on Boeing Co. is based on much lower than expected profitability and cash flow generation, stemming from commercial aircraft production difficulties. While a surging demand for airplanes has increased significantly the firm's backlog, supply chain bottlenecks and internal inefficiencies have proven to be serious obstacles in successfully executing a rapid production rate build-up.
