NY -- Standard&Poor's CreditWire 6/10/97 -- Standard&Poor's today has assigned its 'SP-1'-plus rating to West Contra Costa Unified School District, Calif.'s $15 million 1997-1998 TRANs. Also, the rating on the district's 1994 certificates of participation has been affirmed, reflecting the state of California's statutory requirement to intercept state school fund apportionments for payment to the trustee in the event the district defaults in any future payments of base rent. The TRAN rating reflects the district's general fund obligation pledge and strong coverage of debt service at June 30, 1998. The TRANs are secured by general fund taxes, revenues, and other monies attributable to fiscal 1997-1998. The district has pledged to segregate from general fund revenues 50%
