DALLAS (Standard&Poor's) April 14, 2011--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services assigned its 'A' long-term rating to Wamego, Kan.'s series 2011 general obligation refunding and improvement bonds. "The rating reflects our view of the city's access to Manhattan, Kan.'s broad economic base, which supports good income levels despite a relatively shallow local economy, as well as its strong financial position on a cash basis," said Standard&Poor's credit analyst Russell Bryce. City officials plan to use bond proceeds to finance public water supply system improvements including a new water tower, as well as to refund a portion of the city's existing debt for savings. Wamego, with an estimated population of 4,650, is in northeast Kansas,
