CHICAGO (Standard&Poor's) Aug. 6, 2013--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services assigned its 'A+' rating to Vernon County, Wis.' series 2013A general obligation (GO) refunding bonds. The outlook is stable. "The rating reflects our assessment of the county's agriculture- and service-based local economy, very strong level of reserves, and moderate overall debt burden and rapid amortization," said Standard&Poor's credit analyst Kathryn Clayton. Officials intend to use bond proceeds to refund the county's existing series 2005A GO refunding bonds for interest cost savings purposes.
