S&P Global Ratings assigned its 'AA-' long-term rating to Vernon County , Wis.' roughly $5.5 million series 2025A general obligation (GO) promissory notes. The outlook is stable. The notes are secured by the county's unlimited-tax GO pledge and payable from ad valorem taxes levied on all taxable property without limitation as to rate or amount. Proceeds from the notes will be used for capital improvement projects throughout the county, including highway improvements and to acquire equipment and vehicles. The rating reflects our view of the county?s healthy reserve position, history of stable financial performance, and manageable debt burden.
