We have affirmed the ratings on Unitrin Inc. and its subsidiaries following the company's announcement of losses related to the April storms and first-quarter results. We expect that the group's capital will remain strong and that results will improve to a level consistent with that of the overall property/casualty industry. We will consider lowering the rating if Unitrin's operating performance appears to lag that of the property/casualty industry, capitalization deteriorates, or enterprise risk management deteriorates.
