Standard&Poor's Ratings Services assigned its 'AA+' long-term rating, and stable outlook, to Watertown, Mass.' series 2010 general obligation (GO) municipal-purpose loan bonds and affirmed its 'AA+' long-term rating and underlying rating (SPUR), with a stable outlook, on the town's existing GO parity debt. The ratings reflect the town's: Strong and stable economic base that participates in the greater Boston metropolitan statistical area (MSA), Strong household income levels and favorable unemployment, Extremely strong and diverse property tax base, Good financial management and good reserves, and Low overall debt burden and rapid debt amortization.
