The rating on Sun Communities Operating Limited Partnership, the operating partnership of Sun Communities Inc., acknowledges Sun's discontinuance of the merger offer to Chateau Properties Inc. (`BBB-'). Because a merger between Chateau and ROC Communities appears imminent, Sun's management says that it would not pursue a hostile takeover attempt. Sun Communities is an equity umbrella partnership REIT that owns and operates a portfolio of 81 manufactured home rental communities totaling about 29,000 developed sites.
