Standard&Poor's Ratings Services raised its rating and underlying rating (SPUR) to 'AA+' from 'AA' on Seattle, Wash.'s outstanding drainage and wastewater revenue bonds. At the same time, Standard&Poor's assigned its 'AA+' rating to the city's $98.985 million series 2008 drainage and wastewater revenue and refunding bonds. These rating actions generally reflect consistently very strong management practices and policies relating to the city's drainage and wastewater system by the Seattle Public Utility (SPU) Department. Credit strength is enhanced by various progressive aspects of SPU's management of the system --both financial and operationally -- over time.
