The ratings on Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) reflect: The robust support of NIB member countries; Strong asset quality; and Ample liquidity. NIB's extremely strong capacity to honor its financial obligations in a timely manner reflects the strong support of its member countries, strong liquidity position, and very high asset quality, which lead to stable and predictable profitability. The bank was founded in 1975, with the aim of strengthening and developing Nordic cooperation and promoting growth in member countries by means of financing long-term projects in both the private and public sectors. Since then, NIB has had the consistent support of its member governments. Authorized capital amounted to €4.1 billion at year-end 2005, of which €419 million had been paid in.
