Standard&Poor's Ratings Services affirmed its 'AA-' long-term rating and (SPUR) to Kentwood Public Schools, Mich.'s existing general obligation (GO) debt. The outlook is stable. The ratings reflect our view of the district's: Participation in the Grand Rapids-area economy; Good general fund reserves; Stable enrollment, which is linked to state aid; and Low overall debt burden. Partially offsetting the preceding credit strengths is our view of the district's adequate, but below average income levels and decline in general fund reserves, from, in our view, strong to good levels. The district's unlimited-tax GO pledge secures its GO indebtedness. Kentwood Public Schools, with an estimated population of 63,276, is located adjacent to Grand Rapids on the southeast side of the city
