Standard&Poor's Ratings Services assigned its 'AA-' rating and stable outlook to Houston County, Ala.'s series 2014A general obligation (GO) warrants and affirmed its 'AA-' rating, with a stable outlook, on the county's existing GO debt based on Standard&Poor's local GO criteria, published Sept. 12, 2013, on RatingsDirect. The series 2014A warrants are a GO of the county, for which it has irrevocably pledged its full faith and credit. Officials intend to use warrant proceeds to fund energy conservation projects and roadway improvements. Since officials dedicate a portion of warrant proceeds to roadways, the county is entitled to use a portion of its state-appropriated gasoline tax to support debt service on the series 2014A warrants.
