Standard&Poor's Ratings Services has affirmed its 'A+' underlying rating (SPUR) on Houston County, Ala.'s general obligation (GO) debt. The outlook is stable. The long-term rating reflects: Position as southeast Alabama's regional economic center; Strong financial performance and position; and Low debt burden, coupled with limited additional capital needs Offsetting rating factors include the county's: Moderately concentrated property tax base, and Below-average income levels. The outstanding bonds are GOs of the county, of which the full faith, credit, and taxing power are irrevocably pledged.
