Standard&Poor's Ratings Services has assigned its 'A+' long-term rating to Holt Public Schools, Mich.'s series 2010 limited-tax general obligation (GO) energy conservation improvement bonds and affirmed its 'AA-' ratings and 'A+' issuer credit rating (ICR) on the district's previously rated debt. The 'AA-' rating reflects the district's participation in the Michigan School Bond Loan Fund Program. The 'A+' ratings reflect the district's: Participation in the diverse Lansing metropolitan statistical area (MSA); Good to strong income and wealth characteristics; and Very strong reserves, despite recent and expected deficits. The district's high overall debt burden and the area's high unemployment levels temper these strengths. The district will use the bond proceeds to finance energy conservation projects.
