Standard&Poor's Ratings Services assigned its 'A+' rating to the town of Groton, Mass.' GO bonds. In addition, Standard&Poor's affirmed its 'A+' underlying rating (SPUR). The 'A+' rating reflects the town's: Primarily residential tax base, with access to employment opportunities in and around the deep and diverse Boston employment base; Above-average wealth and income level indicators; Stable financial position; and Average debt burden. Groton, with an estimated population of 10,400, is located in central Massachusetts, approximately 35 miles northwest of Boston.
