We believe that, despite a number of generally credit-negative events that French integrated power company Electricité de France (EDF) has recently faced, its credit fundamentals remain broadly unchanged and it will be able to effectively absorb these additional risks. We have also affirmed our view of a high likelihood that the French government would provide timely and sufficient extraordinary support to EDF in the event of financial distress. We are therefore affirming our 'A+/A-1' ratings on EDF. The negative outlook reflects that on France, but also the additional risks we see as potentially hampering the group's business risk profile and credit metrics.
