On Aug. 28, 2007, Standard&Poor's Ratings Services assigned its 'A' rating to San Antonio, Texas-based AT&T Inc.'s $2 billion of global notes due 2037 which were issued from a shelf registration. Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, including repayment of maturing debt. We also affirmed all ratings on AT&T, including the 'A' corporate credit rating. The outlook is stable. Total debt outstanding as of June 30, 2007, was $62 billion. The ratings reflect the company's strong position in the fast-growing wireless sector, healthy financial performance of its wireline business, and modest financial profile. AT&T is one of the largest communications companies in the U.S. and benefits from its scale as both a local telephone and wireless
