TOKYO (Standard&Poor's CreditWire) Sept. 5, 2000--Standard&Poor's today assigned its double-'A'-plus long-term and 'A-1'-plus short-term ratings to the proposed US$10 billion joint Euro medium-term note program of Nippon Telegraph&Telephone Corp. (NTT) and its wholly owned subsidiary, NTT Finance Japan Co. Ltd. At the same time, Standard&Poor's placed the new long-term rating on CreditWatch with negative implications. The short-term rating was not placed on CreditWatch. The maturities of the notes to be issued by the two companies under the program are stipulated at between one month and 30 years. Notes issued by NTT will be secured by general mortgages. Notes issued by NTT Finance are unsecured, but will benefit from an unconditional and irrevocable
