TORONTO (Standard&Poor's) Oct. 23, 2008--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services today said it affirmed its ratings, including its 'A' long-term issuer credit rating, on the Province of Prince Edward Island (PEI or the province). The outlook is positive. "The ratings on the province reflect tax-supported debt and direct debt burdens that fit well within its Canadian and international peer group; its track record of what we believe to be solid economic performances; and significant equalization and transfer payments from the federal government," said Standard&Poor's credit analyst Paul Judson.
