TORONTO (Standard&Poor's) Feb. 14, 2002--Standard&Poor's said today it assigned its double-'B' long-term corporate credit and bank loan ratings to media giant Corus Entertainment Inc. The outlook is stable. At the same time, Standard&Poor's assigned its single-'B'-plus rating to the Toronto, Ont.-based company's proposed US$200 million senior subordinated notes. Net proceeds from the offering will be used to repay existing bank indebtedness. "Corus has grown dramatically over the past two years and has strengthened its business profile by increasing business diversity and achieving solid market positions in key operating segments," said Standard&Poor's credit analyst Barbara Komjathy.
