...September 16, 2019 NEW YORK (S&P Global Ratings) Sept. 16, 2019--S&P Global Ratings today assigned its 'A' issue-level rating to Deerfield, Ill.-based Caterpillar Inc.'s (A/Stable/A-1) proposed senior unsecured notes. We expect the company will issue the notes in two tranches of 10-year and 30-year maturities. The notes will rank equally with all of Caterpillar's existing and future unsecured obligations. We expect Caterpillar will use the proceeds of this issuance to fund discretionary pension contributions to its U.S. pension plans. This transaction does not have a material impact on the company's credit measures. Our ratings on Caterpillar reflect its strong market position as the world's largest construction and mining equipment manufacturer, and a leading provider of diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives.
