About This Report

Abstract:

NEW YORK (S&P Global Ratings) June 9, 2021--S&P Global Ratings today said that its ratings on American Electric Power Co. Inc. (AEP; A-/Negative/A-2) are unchanged following the company's statement that it received a subpoena from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requesting documents relating to the benefits it realized from Ohio House Bill 6 and its financial processes and controls. Under our base-case scenario, we assume AEP will submit the requested documents and not face any material fines, though we will continue to closely monitor any developments. Consistent with our current view, we could lower our ratings on AEP if the SEC's review identifies material control errors or it imposes severe fines that weaken the company's financial measures beyond
