About This Report

Abstract:

This report does not constitute a rating action. SINGAPORE (S&P Global Ratings) Feb. 9, 2026--Thailand's election results give the country another opportunity to restore policy continuity. Unpredictable political cycles and their enduring impact on policymaking and economic growth remain key constraints on our ratings on Thailand (BBB+/Stable/A-2). The Feb. 8 parliamentary election could give Thailand's next government more time to tackle these challenges. The next government's ability to restore stability to Thailand's political cycle will be the core determinant of key credit factors, including economic growth and fiscal performance, over the next few years. Preliminary results indicate a strong performance by the Bhumjaithai Party (BJT). However, absent an outright majority, the BJT will likely need to secure a coalition agreement
