TOKYO (Standard&Poor's) Feb. 16, 2007--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services said today that its ratings on Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd. (BTMU: A/Positive/A-1) would not be affected by the Financial Services Agency's (FSA) order to suspend part of its banking operations and improve its internal controls and compliance practices. In its administrative order issued on Feb. 15, 2007, the FSA stated that BTMU's corporate governance and internal control functions were flawed. The administrative order prohibits the bank from extending loans to new corporate customers nationwide for seven consecutive days during the period of April 9 to July 9, 2007, depending on the region.
