HONG KONG (Standard&Poor's) Feb. 20, 2014--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services said today that its ratings on The Bank of East Asia Limited (BEA: A/Stable/A-1; cnAA+/cnA-1) and The Bank of East Asia (China) Limited (A/Stable/A-1; cnAA+/cnA-1) are not affected by BEA's full-year 2013 operating results announced on Feb. 18, 2014. The results were generally in line with our expectations. We expect BEA to maintain its financial and business profiles for the next two years. We believe the bank's adequate capitalization, profitability, and risk management will provide reasonable buffers against the potential negative impact on its credit profile resulting from its operations in China. BEA's return on average assets stayed about 0.9%. Earnings increased about 10% from a year earlier
