Abstract:

NEW YORK (Standard&Poor's) July 21, 2005--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services said today that its ratings on Fidelity National Financial Inc. (NYSE:FNF; BBB-/Watch Neg/--), First American Corp. (NYSE:FAF; BBB/Positive/--), LandAmerica Financial Group Inc. (NYSE:LFG; BBB-/Stable/--), and their related title insurance companies will not be affected by the California Insurance Commissioner's settlement of about $37 million, which was announced yesterday. The settlement is related to the companies' agreement to end their captive-reinsurance arrangements with lenders, builders, and realtors in exchange for referral of business. Earlier this year, each of the three companies indicated that the total amount of title business ceded nationally since the inception of these programs was not materially greater than the amounts indicated in the settlement.
