Abstract:

The Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) decided on May 2 that hearings on the retail competition in Arizona would begin on June 17. Furthermore, the ACC divided the hearings into two 'tracks': Track A, to address divestiture of generation assets, will begin June 17, with a decision due August 1 at the earliest, while Track B, regarding competitive bidding processes for generation services, will begin the week of May 20 and conclude at the earliest on October 21. Previously, the hearings on retail electric competition were scheduled to begin on April 29. The outcome of these hearings will affect both Tucson Electric Power (BB/Stable/--) and Pinnacle West Capital Corp.'s (BBB/Stable/--) subsidiary, Arizona Public Service (BBB+/Stable/A-2).
