NY -- Standard&Poor's CreditWire 10/19/95 -- Standard&Poor's revises its rating outlook on Apple Computer Inc. to negative from stable, reflecting concerns about the company's recent profitability levels and its longer-term ability to achieve market share objectives. At the same time, Standard&Poor's affirms its triple-`B' senior debt and `A-2' commercial paper ratings on the company. About $300 million of rated debt is affected. The rating reflects Apple's ongoing strategic challenges in the highly competitive personal computer (PC) industry, offset by the company's strong balance sheet, financial flexibility, and history of innovative product development. Although Apple has managed its product-line transition to the PowerPC microprocessor successfully, significant challenges remain. Licensing initiatives aimed at expanding Apple's 8%
