Abstract:

NEW YORK (Standard&Poor's) April 25, 2003--AMR Corp. (CCC/Watch Dev/-), parent of American Airlines Inc. (CCC/Watch Dev/-), announced that it appointed Gerard Arpey as its new CEO after the resignation of former CEO Donald Carty. Standard&Poor's Ratings Services said today that its ratings on both entities remain on CreditWatch with developing implications. Mr. Carty's resignation was a result of the controversy that arose from the company's failure to disclose special bonuses and pension protections for senior executives at the time its unions were voting on labor concessions to avert a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. Thus far, the company has reached agreements with two of its three unions, expected to save $1.8 billion annually over five years, revised
