Question: Simona Jankowski - Goldman Sachs - Analyst
: Thank you. Rob, I had a couple more questions I wanted to ask on the topic of the multi-gigabit ethernet switches. And those have to do with the
topic of standards.
So as I understand, this is still pre-standard technology. And there's, in fact, been two different alliances that have gone after it, [NBASE- T] and
NBASE-T.
And I understand there was actually some recent development in the IEEE that seems to be aligning with the Cisco technology. So this may even
be a moot point, but if you can just maybe give us a little bit of context of where we are in terms of standardizing? And whether you think adoption
is going to be held off until we have the proper standard?
Question: Simona Jankowski - Goldman Sachs - Analyst
: And when would you expect this to be formally standardized?
Question: Simona Jankowski - Goldman Sachs - Analyst
: Okay.
Question: Simona Jankowski - Goldman Sachs - Analyst
: Got you. So you if I am a customer now, if I buy say an Aruba access point, I should have no concerns about that interoperating with the Cisco
switch on the multi-gigabit switches once they come out?
Question: Simona Jankowski - Goldman Sachs - Analyst
: And then just lastly, again, to put in context, the refresh cycle. Can you just remind us, when you last saw the refresh cycle in your campus switching
business? And what that typically looks like just so -- because I think it's been awhile ago just to have that context?
Question: Simona Jankowski - Goldman Sachs - Analyst
: Okay. Mark, let's just do one last check in the queue before we wrap up for any questions?
Question: Amitabh Passi - UBS - Analyst
: Hey, guys, Rob, thank you for doing the call. Rob, I just had two questions if you don't mind.
First on the switching upgrade, the multi-gig switching upgrade. Can you give us a sense of ASPs and margins relative to the rest of your portfolio?
Because quite often, we've seen your products being introduced at significantly lower ASPs, even though margins appear to be stabilizing. So
wondered if you could input that in context? And I had a follow-up on Meraki.
Question: Amitabh Passi - UBS - Analyst
: Excellent. And then just a quick follow-up on Meraki. The cloud management aspect that you talked about now extending it beyond wireless access
points to your networking and security portfolio. How does that manifest itself?
If you've got a customer today with a cat switch or an ICE or a branch router, is Meraki able to manage those? Or do they have to introduce new
Meraki manageable switches and routers? I just wanted to better understand the cloud management aspect across your portfolio.
Question: Amitabh Passi - UBS - Analyst
: And do you monetize that as hardware or is it purely a recurring revenue kind of model?
Question: Amitabh Passi - UBS - Analyst
: Okay, thank you both.
Question: Simona Jankowski - Goldman Sachs - Analyst
: Okay, well, Rob, I wanted to thank you for taking some time out of your schedule to go through these product cycles. I think it's certainly a very
interesting time, and appreciate all of your insights. We'll look forward to seeing you at Cisco Live in just a little over a week.
Question: Simona Jankowski - Goldman Sachs - Analyst
: Thanks again and thanks everyone for dialing in. Have a good weekend.
