On March 1, 2016, due to change in design to create a rock-filled concrete dam instead of one made from solid concrete the project value reduced from US$96 million to US$53 million.
On the basis of local people interest, MCWSG will determine which dam option is viable i.e the low option would involve raising the height of dam, whereas the medium and high options would require a new dam to be built at the same site.
Feasibility studies have been completed.
