About This Report

Abstract:

The Eurozone economy shows no obvious signs of slowing in response to political events in the UK, the US or domestically. The Q3 GDP release showed that the economy expanded by 0.3% for a second successive quarter. And the data for Q4 so far is encouraging. In November, both the composite PMI and the EC's Economic Sentiment Indicator rose to their highest levels this year and October retail sales rose by a healthy 1.1% on the month. While it is too soon to draw strong conclusions about growth in Q4, for now we are pencilling in a quarterly rise of about 0.5%. Overall, we have made no major changes to our growth assessment we see GDP growth of about 1.5% both next year and in 2018, just a touch weaker than this year's expected outturn of a 1.6% rise.
