US spot prices for jet fuel rose to over US$1.80 per gallon in mid-February, up from Januarys low of US$1.40. Nonetheless, jet-fuel prices are still well below the US$3/gallon typical a year ago, providing a substantial fillip to airlines profitability once any previous undertaken hedging unwinds.
