Global production of consumer goods has proven morebuoyant than expected early this year. Although overallhousehold consumption is still seen expanding by around2½% in 2014, consumer goods output now looks oncourse to increase by 3¼%. This positive differentialreverses the position seen in 2012 and 2013, reflecting a moderatedesire to rebuild inventories in the face of graduallyexpanding demand as economies recover, most especiallyin Europe.
