Global basic metals production slowed sharply in value added terms in 2015 and weakness is extending into 2016. We expect basic metals output growth to slow from 3% in 2014 to 1% in 2015 and 2016, before growth rises to 2% in 2017. We have significantly revised down our forecast for 2016 in a number of major countries.
