Things are looking up for the Furniture, Lighting and Homeware Retailers industry after operators endured a difficult period during the economic downturn. Industry revenue fell when the financial crisis hit but brighter conditions since 2011-12 have helped retailers recover. Revenue has risen since 2012-13, and is expected to start approaching the levels displayed prior to the recession. Over the five years through 2015-16, industry revenue is expected to increase at a compound annual rate of 2.5% to £12.6 billion. This includes projected growth of 0.6% during the current year.
Operators in the industry sell household, outdoor and office furniture, and other household goods such as light fixtures, utensils, cutlery, crockery, glassware and non-electrical household appliances.
