Abstract:

Spanish grains production will record negligible growths from ----/-- to ----/--, with the exception of wheat, which will benefit from the crop diversification required by the new CAP support scheme. Corn consumption will rise steadily on the back of the rebound in pork production. ...After two consecutive years of growth in ----/-- and ----/--, we expect Spanish sugar production to return to its long-term downward trend between ----/-- and ----/--. Out to ----, Spanish sugar will see limited growth in production due to other European producers increasing output following the likely removal of EU sugar quotas in ---- and the opening up of the European market to Latin American producers. Sugar consumption, on the other hand, will remain largely resilient despite the poor economic context. ...The declining trend for milk consumption in Spain began even before the global financial crisis in ----, but cheese will be the exception. Apart from specific artisanal products, Spain is not one of the countries that we see spearheading the EU s growth in dairy production and exports.
