Audit Analytics identified 2,613 accelerated filers that disclosed audit fees for every year since 2002 and studied the audit and non-audit fees paid by this population from 2002 to 2009. In order to adjust for inflation and corporate growth from year to year, Audit Analytics calculated the total fees paid by the population and divided the fees by the total revenue of the same companies. The analysis found that the population, after a few years of decline, experienced a slight increase and in the ratio of audit fees and non-audit fees over revenue, but the uptick was due to a decrease in revenues instead of an increase in fees.
