DALLAS (Standard&Poor's) June 9, 2014--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services raised its underlying rating (SPUR) on Wharton, Texas' general obligation (GO) debt one notch to 'A+' from 'A' based on Standard&Poor's local GO criteria, published Sept. 12, 2013, on RatingsDirect. The outlook is stable. "We believe Wharton will likely maintain, what we consider, its very strong reserves while having access to liquidity," said Standard&Poor's credit analyst Jose Razo. "While we do not expect to change the rating within the next two years, the rating could be stressed if overall performance were to deteriorate.
