S&P Global Ratings assigned its 'AA-' long-term rating to Wamego , Kan.'s proposed $5.3 million series 2025 general obligation (GO) secured debt. At the same time, we affirmed our 'AA-' long-term rating on the city's GO debt outstanding. The outlook is negative. The rating incorporates our view of the city's environmental, social, and governance factors, which we view as neutral to our credit analysis. While the area is exposed to tornadoes, we do not view environmental risk as heightened because damage is usually limited and covered by insurance or Federal Emergency Management Agency reimbursement and very strong reserves.
