NEW YORK (Standard&Poor's CreditWire) Oct. 13, 2000-- Standard&Poor's today assigned its double-'A'-minus rating to University of Kentucky's $29.87 million consolidated education building bonds series Q due July 31, 2030. The bonds are scheduled to sell the week of Oct. 24, 2000. In addition, Standard&Poor's today affirmed its double-'A'-minus rating on the university's outstanding consolidated education building bonds. The outlook is stable. The rating reflects the university's: -- Position as the flagship institution in the higher-education funding hierarchy, -- Solid financial operations, -- Good levels of unrestricted funds, and -- Manageable debt burden. A first lien pledge of tuition and fees from students attending the university's main campus and Lexington Community College secure the bonds.
